I think that’s all my fulmar photos sorted out and uploaded. These birds are not seagulls, they’re more closely related to the albatross. They drink sea water while on the wing and that funny thingie on their beaks is a salt filtration system that removes excess salt from their bodies. Love spending time with them when they arrive to nest.
Love spending time with these birds every year. They’re nesting, but I don’t think there are any eggs as yet, not around here anyway, perhaps further north there might be. I’ll have to go see if the arctic terns have arrived yet.
Very happy with this one. It isn’t cropped much either, the full sized tiff is 4800 pixels wide. Love these birds.
I’ve been spending time with this dude, getting to know him, letting him get to know me, bringing him a little catfood sachet of meat now and again to help him feed his chicks, and it’s starting to pay off. How’s this for my first ever photo of a raven? Wonderfully intelligent and playful birds.
Is that a camera or a gun you’re pointing at me?
Shag’s nesting on Stroma Island. If you look closely, you’ll see chicks. What you can ‘t see is the cliffs and the sheer drop between me and the nest with the sea far below.
