Filling the Frame

Composition is a big part of photography, and filling the frame is just one of a number of techniques to good photos. Catch up with the full Composition Tutorial in my free online photography workshop here.

Take this photo of a cat for example. It’s nothing to write home about, there’s nothing exciting about it, it isn’t even interesting enough to share on social sites. It’s really recycle bin material.

Look what happens though when you fill the frame with the cat and do a bit of post processing to bring out detail and adjust contrasts. I zoomed in here with a telephoto lens, and also cropped it. Now we have a pretty decent photo. Filling the frame is only one of a number of composition techniques, so be sure to read the full workshop to learn more.
